Goa's Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has come under fire for approving 89 lakh rupees for six of his MLAs to attend the Brazil world cup. Three of these MLAs are ministers too.

The ones who are being packed off to Brazil are - Vasco Carlos Almeida, Velim Benjamin Silva, Aldona MLA Glen Ticlo, Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar, Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado, and Power Minister Milind Naik.

But no official from the Sports Ministry is accompanying the delegation. Some reports claim that though senior sports officials wanted to join the delegation, the CM rejected the idea. The MLAs are entrusted to watch the major matches of the season.

Congress opposed the move, adding that the permission and grant both should be taken off taken back immediately. They even allege that Parrikar is trying to please his disgruntled MLAs.

An MLA in the Goa assembly, in an interview to Times Now said that the delegation is being sent to study how to manage such large crowds as Goa is planning to conduct an Under 17 football cup soon.
