If it wasn’t enough for the leaders of BJP and the right-wing groups to indulge in beef-politics, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat, who belongs to Congress party, too has come out in against cow slaughter.
On Thursday while addressing a function on the occasion of Gopashtami in Haridwar, he said:"Anyone who kills cows, no matter which community he belongs to is India's biggest enemy and has no right to live in the country."
The Chief Minister also said that anyone who kills cows in Uttarakhand would have to face dire consequences under the law and that the state government will do everything for cow conservation, NDTV reported.
He claimed that Uttarakhand government reportedly has passed a proposal against cow slaughter. He also claimed that it was the only state which provided land for cowshed but also helps in sourcing fodder.
