The Bangalore Police Commissioner M N Reddi has confirmed that the chairman of the school in which the six year old was raped has been arrested by the police. 

Rustom Kerawalla has been booked under Section 21 of the POCSO Act (failure to report offense), Section 23 of the Juvenile Justice Act and Section 201 of the IPC (destruction of evidence to protect accused).  

Section 21(1) of the POCSO Act, 2012 requires mandatory reporting of cases of child sexual abuse to the law enforcement authorities, and applies to everyone including parents, doctors and school personnel.

Section 23 of the Juvenile Justice Act says,"Whoever, having the actual charge of, or control over, a juvenile or the child, assaults, abandons, exposes or wilfully neglects the juvenile or causes or procures him to be assaulted, abandoned, exposed or neglected in a manner likely to cause such juvenile or the child unnecessary mental or physical suffering shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months, or fine, or with both."

Kerawalla was arrested from Diu on Tuesday night according to the Bangalore police commissioner. 

Parents of the child had mentioned in their complaint that the child was cleaned up after the crime, when some staff members got to know of it.
