In the wake of possible mass-layoffs planned at the company, an audio clip of an alleged exit-interview of a female TCS employee with her HR managers has been uploaded recently.
In the alleged recording, an HR official is heard explaining to the employee the reasons for her getting sacked. When the employee asks why she is getting branded as an "underperfomer", and whether that was the reason for terminating her service, the HR official can be heard saying that is just one if the parameters.
"We would like to retain our As and Bs... they have done more than the guys who have got a C," the HR manager is heard telling the employee reports NDTV.
Reacting to the audio clip that's being widely circulated in social media, Pradipta Bagchi, Vice President, Corporate Communications at TCS told The News Minute that they were not sure if the clip is real, fake or doctored.
"There are five bands during appraisal. C- band means 'meets expectations', and a large number of employees fall under that band. The buzz within employees is that people who have got C Band for more than one year, will be asked to leave," an employee on condition of anonymity had earlier told The News Minute.
According to the Forum for IT Employees, the employees being targeted are the ones in the mid-level management having around seven years experience.
Since December, a number of employees in cities across India have alleged that they have been laid off by the company or put in circumstances where they had no choice but to resign.
