All India Students’ Association (AISA) national president Neha Bora was reportedly detained by Delhi Police on Saturday, October 10, amid protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged electoral irregularities and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Protesters reportedly surrounded a police bus carrying Neha, other student leaders, and detained demonstrators near the Safdarjung Airport flyover in Delhi, attempting to prevent the vehicle from leaving the area. The confrontation took place as police continued to detain protesters attempting to gather in the national capital despite restrictions imposed ahead of the demonstration at Jantar Mantar.

The developments came amid a large-scale police operation to prevent protesters from reaching Jantar Mantar, where the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and other groups had called for a demonstration demanding Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation.

Thousands of police and paramilitary personnel were deployed across Delhi, with barricades, vehicle checks, and restrictions on public transport. Police intercepted protesters at several locations, with many taken away in buses and other vehicles.

Police have so far detained scores of protesters across the capital, while demonstrators continued attempting to reach central Delhi. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke and senior leaders

Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were also detained after their flight arrived in Delhi.

Several journalists were also detained by the police despite prominently identifying themselves by displaying their identity cards.

Police had denied permission for the protest, citing inadequate notice, non-compliance with prescribed guidelines, and concerns over public safety and law and order. The restrictions included the closure of several metro stations and the suspension of mobile internet services in parts of central Delhi.

Neha has been among the prominent student leaders participating in the ongoing demonstrations against the Election Commission. Neha was previously detained on October 4 during a protest towards Jantar Mantar, along with several other demonstrators.
