Waiting for hours at the airport, with not much information on delayed flights, is a problem that most flying Indians have encountered. But in a first such action taken against an airline, the DGCA has asked Spicejet to refund the full fare for a delayed flight.
On June 16, a Spicejet flight from Mumbai to Delhi was delayed by five hours, and the airline sold food and drinks to flyers who were stuck on board the grounded aircraft.
A passenger had complained to the DGCA about the long delay and about the crew's behaviour. A subsequent enquiry established that there were serious engineering issues in aircraft
