

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will soon issue new Rs 20 denomination banknotes, in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) series, having the signature of the central bank’s governor Shaktikanta Das.
In a press release on Friday, the RBI stated that the new denomination has motif of Ellora Caves on the reverse, depicting the country's cultural heritage.
The base colour of the note is Greenish Yellow, while it has other designs, geometric patterns aligning with the overall colour scheme, both at the obverse and reverse sides.
RBI stated that all banknotes in the denomination of Rs 20 issued by the Reserve Bank in the earlier series, will continue to be legal tender.

Front
The dimension of the new Rs. 20 note is 63mm x 129mm, RBI said in its statement.
There is a see-through register with denominational numeral 100.
It contains the denominational numeral २० in Devnagari.
The obverse side has a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi at the centre, with micro letters ''RBI'', ''Bharat'', ''India'' and ‘’20''.
There is also a guarantee clause, Governor''s signature with Promise Clause and RBI emblem towards the right of Gandhi''s portrait, RBI further said.
A windowed demetalised security thread with inscriptions ‘भारत’ and RBI is present on the obverse side.
The obverse side also contains the Ashoka Pillar emblem on the right and Mahatma Gandhi portrait and electrotype (20) watermarks.
Number panel with numerals growing from small to big on the top left side and bottom right side.

Year of printing of the note on the left along with Swachh Bharat logo with slogan.
The reverse side also has Motif of Ellora Caves.
It will feature a language panel and the denominational numeral २० in Devnagari.
