Students affected by the catastrophic Kerala floods of 2018 have been offered scholarships by the University of Glasgow in Scotland. In a unique initiative, the university is offering 4 scholarships to students from Kerala, who are looking to do a masters programmes in the country.
Named the ‘Glasgow Kerala Scholarships’, the university will sponsor 4 students from flood hit Kerala who have applied for 1 year PG programmes at colleges under the varsity in the year 2019-2020. Selected students will be offered scholarships worth 10,000 pounds each, to realise their dreams of studying abroad. The criteria for eligibility includes that students applying must be the residents of India and Kerala at the time of applying. They must have offers for a place for PG programmes for 2019-2020 offered by the University’s many colleges
The application process is to be done completely online and the applicant has to first complete filling the online scholarship application form. Applicants must submit their full names and ID proofs along with the form. Further, two documents with proof of address from August 2018 (when the flood occurred) till the date of application must be attached to the form. The documents can include the Utility bill, Phone bill, Mortgage statement/lease agreement, Permanent Driving License and Aadhaar Card.
