Three girls die after falling into Kerala’s Peechi Dam reservoir, one in hospital

The accident occurred on Sunday, January 12, when four girls including Erin, Nima, Ann Grace, and Aleena fell into the southern part of the Peechi Dam reservoir.

Three of the four girls, who fell into the Peechi dam reservoir in Kerala on Sunday, January 12 have died. Even though they were rescued and taken to the hospital immediately, the condition of the girls was critical. 

The accident occurred on Sunday when four girls— Erin, Nima, Ann Grace, and Aleena—  fell into the southern part of the Peechi Dam reservoir at around 3 pm. 

On Monday morning, Aleena (16) passed away. Ann Grace (16) also died at the hospital later in the day. On Tuesday, Erin passed away. All three of them are residents of Pattikkad in Thrissur. Meanwhile, Nima is still receiving treatment on the ventilator.

According to reports, the girls are students of St. Clare’s Convent Higher Secondary School in Thrissur. They were at Nima’s house to attend the Lourdes Matha Church festival in Peechi. The incident occurred when they went to see the dam. Initially, two girls fell into the reservoir while they walked on a slippery rock and the other two fell when they tried to rescue them. Nima’s sister was also present with them.

The girls were immediately rescued and given before being transported to the St Jubilee Mission Hospital in Thrissur.
