A printing press in Thrissur district of Kerala has withdrawn the prints of a college magazine that had a page with a screenshot of Google images which shows Prime Minister Narendra Modi's picture in top ten criminals’ list. The magazine, 'Puram Modi" is backed by the Student Federation of India (SFI) activists of Maharajas Technical Institute Thrissur. “Some of the students approached us to print 300 copies of the magazine and they wanted it urgently, that they said it was supposed to be released last March. We printed it and when binding work was going on, we noticed the page features PM Modi as a criminal,” owner of the press James P F told The News Minute. “Then we informed the students that we are withdrawing the print and would pay the advance back. Though we told them that we could release it if the page was removed, they were not ready” he adds. James also added that though students were upset, there had been no issues or clashes as reported by some media. He added that earlier one of his friends who run a printing press had faced similar issues and landed in legal trouble. “Earlier a printing press owner got into trouble as some derogatory matter was there in the printed material,” he said. Speaking to TNM, the college principal C K Mohanan distanced himself and the college from the book, calling it a a 'complete student initiative. “No staff from the college have contributed to the magazine this time; it is completely sponsored by students. We did not fund it because they were not ready to make changes according to our suggestions,” Mohanan said. He added that college will not officially involve in the issue. However SFI district leadership rubbished all these allegations. "There are no such controversies, there were just some technical issues. We will sort out it and publish the magazine soon. We will not remove any pages from it, as it carries nothing derogatory ," Rosselraj KS SFI district Secretary told TNM. A few weeks ago, Google had apologised for its algorithm that showed PM Modi's images right on top for the search terms 'Top 10 criminals'
