All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, who recently took oath as the Wayanad MP, arrived in her constituency on Saturday, November 30, for her first visit since her resounding victory in the November 13 bye-election.

Priyanka, accompanied by her brother and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, expressed her enthusiasm to begin serving the people of Wayanad. "I am really happy to be back and am ready to start work for the people of Wayanad to help them to have a better life,” she said at the Kozhikode airport.

The Congress MP has a packed schedule for the day, commencing with public meetings in Mukkam, Thiruvambadi Assembly constituency, followed by receptions in Karulai, Nilambur, Wandoor, and Edavanna. Priyanka Gandhi secured a decisive victory in the Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll with a margin of 4.11 lakh votes, surpassing her brother's victory margin of 3.60 lakh votes in the April Lok Sabha polls. However, she fell short of Rahul Gandhi's 2019 margin of 4.30 lakh votes. The bypoll was prompted by Rahul Gandhi's earlier seat vacation.

The election saw significant focus on whether Priyanka Gandhi could replicate or surpass her brother's record-breaking margin. Her victory holds considerable weight within her political career, marking nearly two decades since her first campaign experience alongside her mother, Sonia Gandhi, and brother in 2004. Her debut as an elected representative is anticipated to bolster the Congress' presence in Kerala and potentially revitalize the party's fortunes nationally.
