Tirur Satheesh, a former office secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has made fresh allegations against the party in the infamous Kodakara money heist case. Speaking to the media on Monday, December 2, he alleged that the BJP’s Thrissur district committee office had stored up to Rs 9 crore in black money. He, however, added that he did not know where the money was taken after it was removed from the office.
According to the chargesheet in the case, a hawala agent named Dharmarajan had brought the money from Karnataka with the knowledge of BJP state president K Surendran.
“During the last legislative Assembly elections, Rs 9 crore was brought into the BJP district committee office in the form of six bundles. The money was stored there at the time, but I have no knowledge of where it was taken afterward,” Satheesh told the media. He said he would not be publicly presenting any documents related to the revelations as of now, as that could affect the police investigation.
Pointing out the irony of the situation, Satheesh added, “The party that came to power with the promise of curbing black money is the same one that stored it in its district committee office. If we follow what the Prime Minister says, the district committee that stored the black money should have been disbanded.”
The former BJP office-bearer further claimed that out of the six bundles of money, three were handed over by the district treasurer to three individuals. “I don’t know where the money was taken after that. The three bundles were removed from the office on the same day Dharmarajan delivered the money,” he said.
Satheesh also alleged that BJP Thrissur district president KK Aneesh Kumar, general secretary KR Hari, and another leader Sujesh Senan led all the black money dealings. According to him, a month after the elections, another Rs 1.5 crore was taken away in a sack and a big shopper bag. “The money was transported in Aneesh Kumar’s car, with Hari and Sujesh Senan accompanying him,” he said.
Satheesh called for a police investigation into all the people who were involved in the distribution of this money. “The police should find out where the first three bundles of cash were transported to, as well as the Rs 1.5 crore that was taken later. I have handed over all the documents I possess to the police,” he added.
Aneesh Kumar had earlier accused Satheesh of making these allegations in an “attempt to settle scores,” as Satheesh was removed from his position a long time ago due to financial irregularities. The Thrissur BJP district president also expressed doubts about the timing of the accusations, asking why Satheesh waited so long to make these revelations.
