A 30-year-old woman, Prabisha Karadipparambil, suffered severe burns after her former husband, Prasanth, allegedly attacked her with acid while she was undergoing Ayurvedic treatment in Cheruvannur, Perambra. The attack took place on Sunday, March 23, and left her with severe injuries on her face, chest, and back.

Prabisha was immediately rushed to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment in the burn ICU.

The police arrested Prasanth on the same day. According to reports, this is not the first time he has inflicted violence on her. Seven years ago, Prasanth allegedly attempted to attack both Prabisha and their child. Her family has also alleged that he is a drug addict and has a long history of domestic abuse.

Prabisha and Prasanth got married 13 years ago, and the family alleges that she was subjected to physical violence all these years. They separated around two and a half years ago due to his assaults. Her mother, speaking to the media, revealed that Prasanth had inflicted grave injuries on Prabisha in the past, including an attack that left her blind in one eye.

“She was under treatment for a spinal injury after he assaulted her. He always threatened to kill not just her, but all of us,” Prabisha’s mother said. She also claimed that the family had filed at least 12 complaints with the Balussery police station over the years, but no action was taken.

“At one point we stopped complaining to the police, as he would come out so soon and attack us again,” the mother added.
