Kerala Plus Two results declared, Kozhikode top-scoring district
The Kerala Directorate of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE) has announced the results of the Class 12 examination on Wednesday. Out of 3.5 lakh students who appeared for the exam, a total of 3,11,375 students have cleared the examination, and are eligible for higher studies.
The results were announced at the Public Relations Department Chambers of the Kerala Government. The overall pass percentage this year is 84.33%, an improvement from the pass percentage of 83.75 % last year. In 2018, a total of 3.69 lakh students had appeared for the examination, out of which 3.09 lakh had passed.
The pass percentage in government schools is 83.04%, 86.36% in aided schools and 77.34% in unaided schools.
A total of 79 schools have secured 100 percent result, and 183 students secured 100 percent. A total of 14,244 students received A+ in all subjects.
Department-wise, the pass percentages are: 86.04% in Science, 79.82% in Humanities, 84.65% in Commerce, 69.72% in Technical and 93.59% in Fine Arts.
Kozhikode district secured the highest pass percentage of 87.44%, while Pathanamthitta district recorded the lowest pass percentage at 83.04%. Last year, Kannur was the top-scoring district with 86.7%, while Pathanamthitta was the lowest at 77.1%. Incidentally, Pathanamthitta was the revenue district that recorded the best performance in the SSLC Class 10 exam this year.
Announcing the results, Education Secretary A Shajahan said that the department had put certain measures in place to help students deal with the stress while taking exams. “In order to make the exam more student-friendly, more options were added to the questions this time. Besides, students were given eight-page main answer sheet and four-page additional answer sheets this year, compared to four-page main sheet and single-page additional sheets,” he said.
