Unusual scenes were witnessed in Kerala on the night of December 4, Saturday as a technical glitch caused a Vande Bharat Express to be delayed for around four hours near Shoranur junction, disrupting passenger travel between Kasaragod and Thiruvananthapuram.

The train came to an unexpected halt at 5:30 PM, with passengers reporting multiple issues including non-functional air conditioning and electrical problems preventing door operations. Despite quick deployment of engineering personnel, initial repair attempts proved unsuccessful.

At approximately 7:30 PM, railway officials made the decision to pull the train to Shoranur railway station for comprehensive repairs. A new engine was attached after thorough safety checks, and the train eventually resumed its journey at 8:45 PM, significantly delaying the scheduled arrival.

Originally scheduled to reach Thiruvananthapuram at 10:40 PM, the train ultimately arrived at 2:30 AM on Sunday, December 5, nearly four hours behind schedule.

The Palakkad Railway division issued a formal apology, acknowledging the inconvenience caused to passengers. "We deeply regret the disruption to travel plans and the delay in providing emergency assistance," the press release stated.
