A day after CE Susamma, a 54-year-old nun was found dead inside a well on the premises of the Mount Tabor Dayara Convent in Pathanapuram under mysterious circumstances, the police on Monday, based on the autopsy report have said that the cause of death was drowning.

According to an IANS report, her abdomen also showed presence of naphthalene balls, besides both her wrists being found slashed.

Kollam Rural SP, B Ashokan is reported to have told Deccan Chronicle that the nun could have attempted several methods to end her life, including cutting her veins before she jumped into the well.

According to Times of India, B Ashokan said that the nun’s viscera is kept for chemical analysis and the report will be ready in a couple of days. He went on to say that only after this, a final report will be prepared.

The body will be laid to rest at the Mount Tabor Church on Tuesday.

On Sunday around 9 am, the body was identified as that of 54-year-old Sussama, a nun at the St. Stephens School in Pathanapuram, about 80 km from the state capital, where she had been teaching for 12 years.

Workers at the Mount Tabor Convent first found blood stains near the well and then saw the body floating inside the well.
