A collision between an ambulance and a government bus on Sunday, December 1 in Kerala’s Pathanamthitta district resulted in the injury of eight commuters. The bus, belonging to Kerala State Road Transportation Corporation (KSRTC), was plying from Thiruvananthapuram to Pathanamthitta when it collided with the ambulance on the Punalur-Muvattupuzha State Highway.

According to reports, the ambulance was on its way to the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital with four people, including the patient. The KSRTC bus was travelling from Thiruvananthapuram to Pathanamthitta.

Ambulance driver Vipin is in a critical condition and has been shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. The KSRTC bus driver, a patient in the ambulance, and three others who were accompanying the patient were also injured. A bystander of the patient was thrown out of the ambulance due to the impact of the collision. All the injured individuals were taken to a private hospital in Pathanapuram.

Due to the impact of the collision, the front portion of the ambulance was completely and the bus partially destroyed. Residents suspect that unscientific construction of the road might have been a reason for the accident.
