Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari was sworn in as a judge in the Kerala High Court, on Wednesday, April 23, bringing the court’s strength to 45 judges. The oath was administered by Chief Justice Nitin Jamdar, in a ceremony held in the banquet hall of the Kerala High Court. Justice Dharmadhikari was transferred from the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
Justice Dharmadhikari started his legal career at the Madhya Pradesh High Court in 1992. He practised as a legal solicitor for 24 years at the Madhya Pradesh HC located in Jabalpur. He was later appointed as the Union Government’s standing counsel from 2000 to 2015, and represented several government agencies, including Central Excise, the Reserve Bank of India, and the Income Tax department, as well as numerous Public Sector Undertakings.
He served as an Additional Judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court from April 7, 2016, and was made permanent on March 17, 2018. He is due to retire on July 7, 2028.
His transfer was approved by the Union government from the Madhya Pradesh High Court to the Kerala High Court after the Supreme Court Collegium recommendation on April 7, 2025. A notification regarding his transfer was made on April 12.
