Social media users could not have asked for a better opportunity than Kerala Industries Minister EP Jayarajan’s exit from the Pinarayi ministry in less than six months to churn out trolls and memes. Jayarajan was forced to resign on Friday over charges of nepotism.
From being called ‘Chittappan’ (Uncle) to being hailed for his ‘honorable exit’, the internet feasted on the former minister, sparing not even the leaders from the Opposition.
Meme 1: When Jayarajan sees supporters hailing him.
“Don’t they have brains?”
Meme 2: When Jayarajan’s relative gets thrashed for offering him laddoo for landing a job.
Meme 3:
Cyber comrade: “Pinarayi Vijayan Zindabad”
Public: “What’s the matter, comrade?”
Cyber comrade: “Pinarayi ousted a corrupt minister.”
Publilc: “If a minister is caught red handed doing corruption, who else other than the CM should make him resign? The Indian Prime Minister?”
While the Opposition claimed credit for Jayarajan’s resignation, LDF supporters chose to hail it as a creditable move by the state government, one which differentiates Pinarayi from his predecessor Oommen Chandy and the previous UDF government.
Meme 4:
Navya Nair: “I don’t know how to express my gratitude for making EP Jayararjan resign.”
Opposition (Dileep): “There is no need to thank us for his resignation.”
Public: “What have you done to deserve appreciation? I want to express my gratitude to the CM for his timely intervention.”
While a vigilance probe has been ordered to look into the appointments made by Jayarajan, the LDF government also called for a probe into the appointments made during the UDF government's tenure.
Meme 5: When Chennithala learns about the vigilance probe into the appointments made in the last five years.
Meme 6:
Public: “Yay!”
Pinarayi: “Ho! one nuisance is gone.”
Jayarajan’s relative: “Sorry, Chittappa.” (uncle)
Anju Boby George: “Oh, what were their claims!”
Oommen Chandy: “Who resigns for such silly reasons.”
KM Mani: “I know that feeling, bro.”
A day before Jayarajan resigned, Congress MLA VT Balram took to Facebook and asked whether the first wicket had fallen, implying the fall of the first minister in the LDF government.
Meme 7:
Balram: "First wicket of corruption has fallen?"
Public: "What party do you belong to"?"
Balram: "Congress."
Public: "Get up, get up."
