The News Minute | June 13, 2014 | 9:24 AM IST The state government on Thursday faced heat from the High Court after the latter criticized the government for delaying the compensation and rehabilitation package for endosulfan victims in Kerala. Presiding over the case a division bench remarked that the government's explanation is not satisfactory. It further added that the government failed to provide timely compensation. Hearing the petition filed by B C Kumaran of Kasaragod, the court said that the duty of the government is to be alert while dealing with victim compensation. It also said that no step is being taken in this regard. Decision was taken to speed up implementation the compensation and rehabilitation package for endosulfan victims, the government said to the court. The government also filed an affidavit that Plantation Corporation of Kerala Ltd has handed over Rs 26.06 crore to Kasaragod district collector for compensation. Other than this, the government had sanctioned Rs 33.43 crore on March 28 for compensating victims. Also, until now, Rs 36.41 crore has been distributed among relatives of the victims, the government said
