A Zepto delivery agent allegedly assaulted a customer in Bengaluru’s Basaveshwara Nagar on May 21 following a dispute over an incorrectly entered delivery address. The incident, which took place around 2 pm, was captured on CCTV outside the victim’s residence in Judges Colony.
According to the First Information Report filed on May 22 at the Basaveshwara Nagar Police Station, the delivery agent, identified as Vishnuvardhan, arrived at the home of 30-year-old businessman Shashank S Shivaprakash and rudely confronted his sister-in-law over the address error. When Shashank intervened to resolve the matter, the situation escalated.
CCTV footage shows Vishnuvardhan shouting at the residents before repeatedly punching Shashank in his eye. He allegedly also used abusive language during the altercation. Despite Shashank backing away in an attempt to defuse the situation, Vishnuvardhan allegedly blocked his path and continued to assault him. Before leaving the scene, he allegedly threatened to kill Shashank.
Following the attack, Shashank sought medical treatment for his injured eye at Narayana Nethralaya in Rajajinagar, accompanied by his wife.
Police have booked Vishnuvardhan under Sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 126(2) (criminal intimidation), 351(2) (assault), and 352 (punishment for assault) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A notice has been issued to Zepto, requesting details of the accused to facilitate further legal action. The investigation is ongoing.
