The body of a young girl believed to be aged between eight to ten years old was found in a blue suitcase on Wednesday, May 22 on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The suitcase was thrown near an old railway bridge in Chandapura in Anekal Taluk. The suitcase was spotted by a passerby who alerted the local police. The deceased is yet to be identified.
According to reports, preliminary investigation revealed no visible external injuries. Authorities suspect the possibility of strangulation or smothering. The body has been sent for autopsy for further investigation.
Speaking to TNM, Bengaluru Rural Superintendent of Police CK Baba said the suitcase was thrown from a moving train. “It appears that the incident took place elsewhere, and the body was thrown out of a moving train. Normally, such cases fall under railway police jurisdiction, but we are investigating since it involves our region. We are trying to identify the victim,” the SP told TNM.
The police are searching through CCTV footage and extracting information with railway officials to track train schedules and any unusual activity in and around the area. A detailed investigation is currently ongoing.
In a similar incident, earlier in March, the body of 32-year-old Gauri Anil Sambekar was found stuffed inside a suitcase in the bathroom of a residence near Hulimavu, Bengaluru. Her husband, who later confessed to the crime, was apprehended in Pune.
