Bengaluru police have arrested three men, including two lecturers, who allegedly sexually assaulted and blackmailed a college student. Police said that a lecturer named Narendra first assaulted her, and the other two, who learned about the assault later, themselves sexually assaulted the young woman.
The Marathahalli police have arrested Narendra, a physics lecturer at a college in Moodabidri, Dakshina Kannada district, biology lecturer Sandeep, and the latter’s friend Anoop.
Narendra had befriended the woman when she was a student at the college in Moodabidri and kept in touch with her after she moved to Ramanagara to continue her studies. He eventually took her to his friend’s accommodation in Marathahalli and raped her.
When the biology lecturer Sandeep, found out about the assault, he blackmailed the student, claiming that he had photos and videos of her with Narendra and used that knowledge to rape her.
Sandeep had assaulted her in Anoop’s room. Anoop too used the same tactic as Sandeep, blackmailed the student and he too raped her.
The three of them reportedly continue to blackmail and assault her. Eventually the student confided in her parents who took her to the State Women’s Commission. The Commission wrote to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Whitefield) and a complaint was then filed with the jurisdictional Marathahalli police.
