The News Minute | July 4, 2014 | 12.55 pm ISTRuckus broke out in the Karnataka Assembly as the BJP demanded the arrest of Congress MLA Vijayanand Kashapannavar, who has been accused of slapping and threatening policemen who tried to stop a pub from functioning beyond the night deadline.The incident took place on the wee hours of Wednesday morning, as policemen tried to close a pub in UB City mall in Bangalore. The MLA who was partying with friends and family has been accused of thrashing the policemen and chasing them out of the mall.The BJP MLAs shouted slogans in the Assembly on Friday demanding Vijayanand's arrest. "Why is the MLA not accessible to the police?" asked R Ashok, former Home Minister and BJP leader."How could Vijayanand go with history-sheeters and thrash policemen" asked Jagdish Shettar, former chief minister. Shettar accused the Congress government of facilitating things in such a way so as to allow Vijayanand to secure anticipatory bail.Meanwhile Congress MLA Ramesh Kumar had a very bizarre explanation for the entire issue. The MLA said, "This is all common, people have even watched lewd stuff in assembly. We are neither defending nor ticking him off. We need to be smart and not get caught, This man is ignorant, lets advise this man not to get caught next time."This statement created even more furore in the assembly.
