Mysuru and Kodadu MP Pratap Simha has been given police protection after he complained that he had received threats on Facebook.
Simha took up the matter with the Mysuru Police Commissioner on Wednesday and is likely to file a formal complaint on Thursday, Deccan Herald, reports.A post on the “Mysuru Huli Shahide Millath Mahan Tippu Sultan (Tipu Sultan)” page on Tuesday said, “Prathap Naayi Muslimara viruddha maathu rajakiyada bele beyisuva karya mundoodidare (ninna saavu heegeye),” in Kannada.
The post means, “If you continue to play politics by making anti-Muslim comment, you will meet the same end,” when translated into English.
The post was accompanied by a collage of Simha’s photos and the mortal remains of the deceased VHP leader was put up by the user with a tagline reading, “Prathap think about not dying the same way,”.
The comment was posted around the time that VHP leader Kuttappa died in Madikeri on Tuesday during the organization’s protest against Tipu Jayanti being organised there.
Earlier the BJP MP had echoed VHP leaders comments, who had alleged that police action led to their leader’s death.
This happened in the aftermath of VHP leader Kuttappa dying in Madikeri during a clash between the police and VHP supporters, who were opposed to the state government celebrating Tipu Jayanti on Tuesday.
