The world of Indian cinema and theatre was shaken by news of the demise of actor-playwright Girish Karnad on Monday at his home in Bengaluru. Considered one of Kannada literature’s most noteworthy playwrights, he was conferred with several honours including the Jnanpith Award, the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan.
