Belagavi city police have arrested five people, including two minors, for allegedly gang-raping a 15-year-old girl, filming it and then raping her again.

Belagavi Police Commissioner Borase Bhushan Gulabrao told the media on Sunday, June 1, that a POCSO case had been filed at the APMC police station the previous day against six people. He said that two of the accused were minors. Three people have been arrested, and the police have taken the two minors, who are juveniles in conflict with the law, into custody. They are on the lookout for the sixth person.

He said that one man had initially befriended her, and he and others lured her and gang-raped her in December 2024 and filmed the assault on their phones. The accused used the videos of the assault to blackmail her and rape her again in January this year.

“She was gang-raped several times in different places. We will try to ensure the strictest punishment for the accused,” Gulabrao said.

This incident comes on the back of another instance of minors gang-raping a minor in Belagavi. The girl’s parents had filed a complaint on May 12. Three minor boys, who were acquainted with the girl, lured her to a farm on May 6 on the pretext of celebrating a birthday and allegedly raped her.
