A 57-year-old man from Bengaluru was beaten up by the public for allegedly trying to sexually assault a minor girl.
Suresh, reportedly a supervisor of a tent in Maya Bazaar, was beaten up on Sunday, hours after he took the 11-year-old girl to a desolate area to sexually assault her on Saturday night.
The girl is reported to be a distant relative of Suresh’s, and is said to have been playing in front of his house.
After luring the girl with the promise of getting her chocolates and sweets, Suresh took her to a graveyard in Viveknagar.
The girl raised an alarm when he tried to allegedly sexually assault her and Suresh is reported to have fled the place.
The girl, who was dropped back home by a few passersby, then narrated her ordeal to her family.
The girl’s family found Suresh sleeping in an auto rickshaw on Austin Town road and thrashed him.
Suresh, who sustained injuries, was taken to NIMHANS by the police.
He has been booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to reports, Suresh, a resident of Jairajnagar, has been married thrice, but is currently living alone.
