JD (S) State President Kumaraswamy on Wednesday told reporters that taking an all-party delegation to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi over Mekedatu dam row is a futile exercise. He has decided to absent himself from the meeting, a Deccan Herald report said.Chief Minister Siddaramiah would be leading an all-party delegation on April 30 to brief him of the drinking water project at Mekedatu, for which Tamil Nadu has stiffly opposed. The JD (S) leader said that without a detailed project report (DPAR) on Mekedatu which would enlist the project site, location of the proposed dam etc, meeting the PM would not be fruitful. Reacting to this, Law and parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra was quoted by the paper as, “The government need not seek the permission of the Deve Gowda family for every decision it takes”.
