Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bengaluru Tech Summit through video conference on Wednesday, November 16. Touted as Asia’s largest tech festival, the 25th edition of the Bengaluru Tech Summit will be held from November 16 to 18 at Bangalore Palace. Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said, “For many years, Bengaluru has been number one in India’s Innovation Index.” He further said that “India is using technology as a weapon in the war against poverty” and cited examples of Svamitva scheme and Jan Dhan Aadhar Mobile (JAM).

PM Modi claimed that India is no longer known for its red tape, but for welcoming investors. He also said that India has brought reforms in various industries over the years, saying, “Whether it is FDI reforms, or liberalisation of drone rules, steps in the semi-conductor sector, the production incentive schemes in various sectors, or the rise of ease of doing business, India has many excellent factors coming together.” He further said that despite technology being perceived as exclusively for the wealthy and powerful, India has shown how to democratise it and give it a human touch.

Nine Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) will be signed at the Bengaluru Tech Summit this year, and 20 new products will be introduced. The three-day expo will include more than 575 exhibitors and startups from 16 Indian states. To work with Indian enterprises, representatives from over 15 nations will attend the summit, including those from Japan, Finland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Australia, the United States, Lithuania, and Canada.
