Parts of Bengaluru will experience a seven-hour power cut on Monday as the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) is carrying out maintenance work. Areas including Subrahmanyapura, Arehalli, Iskcon, Jayadeva, Sarakki and ISRO Layout will have no power between 10 am to 5 pm.

Bhuvaneshwarinagar, Syndicate Bank Colony, Ittamadu, Hosakerehalli, Sriram Nagar, Manjunathnagar, Ravi Hill View Layout, T G Layout, Sapthagiri Layout, Kathrigutte Village & East, BSK 5th & 6th Block, Om Shakthi Temple, Chikkallasandra, Arehalli, Poornapragna Layout, arvaboumanagara, Anjaneya Layout, Ramanjaneya Nagar, Canara Bank Colony, Uttarahalli Main Road, Gowdanapalya, KSRTC Layout, Brigade Komarla Apartment, AG’s layout, Nandakumar Layout, Srinivasa Colony, Bharath layout, Turahalli, Uttarahalli, Happy Valley and surrounding areas of Arehalli will not have power.

Subrahmanyapura, Vasanthpura, Maruthi Layout, Konanakunte cross, Kanakapura Road, Subramnayapura, Singapore Garden, Govinayakana halli, JHBCS Layout, Kalyaninagar, Sathyammanakunte, Desai Garden, Mantri Tranquil Apartment and surrounding areas will also be affected.

Power cuts will also be experienced in Raghuvanahalli, Doddakallasandra, Gubbalala and surrounding areas surrounding Iskcon temple.

Jayanagar 4th ‘T’ Block, Thilak Nagar, SRK Garden, Jayanagar 7th & 8th Block and surrounding areas, Jaraganahalli, 24th Main, J P Nagar 1st to 5th Phase, Panduranga Nagar, Vinayakanagar, Jayanagara 3rd Block, Sarakki, ITI Layout, J P Nagar and surrounding areas will also have no power.

JC Layout, Kanakapura Main Road, Yelachenahalli, ISRO Layout, Kumaraswamy Layout 1st & 2nd stage, Nanjappa Layout, Umarbhag Layout and surrounding areas will also face the black out.

According to Bescom Managing Director, P Rajendran Chola, the Karnataka Electricity Regulation Commission, had held talks with Bescom and it was decided during the meeting that repair works would begin in these areas of the city.

“Also, when the prices were hiked, the KERC had directed us to ration power if necessary. Karnataka is buying power from other states as the hydro-power projects have stopped working due to the drought. This power cut is for maintenance work but we may have to think about load shedding soon,” a senior official in Bescom said.
