Heavy rains have started lashing Bengaluru later in the day on Sunday, May 21, casting doubt on the crucial Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) versus Gujarat Titans IPL match scheduled to be held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Visuals from the stadium showed heavy rains along with winds taking over the play area, effectively putting the prospects of a crucial match for RCB under threat.
Heavy downpours with thunder forced people to stay indoors on the weekend. The rains also caused inconvenience to commuters. Many parts of the city, including Malleshwaram and south Bengaluru areas, witnessed rainfall with hailstones. Citizens shared videos showing marble-sized hailstones pelting down causing damage to cars and other vehicles. Many arterial roads where the white topping work was taken up have turned into pools.
The rains also lashed regions of Bengaluru Central district. The city outskirts also witnessed heavy downpours. More rain and thundershowers have been forecast for Bengaluru Urban district until May 25. Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru Urban, Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Kodagu, Mandya, Mysuru, and Chitradurga are also likely to witness more rainfall.
Thousands of cricket lovers, especially RCB fans, who were eagerly looking forward to the crucial match since morning are concerned. They are hoping that they will get to watch the game, which is expected to be nail-biting.
