Days after his expulsion from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Karnataka MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal on March 30, announced plans to launch a new political party ahead of Vijayadashami (Dasara festival) this year. Speaking to reporters in Vijayapura, Yatnal criticised the BJP, alleging that it failed to protect Hindu interests and revealed receiving support from international donors for his new political endeavor.
Yatnal said that he had received calls from individuals abroad urging him to establish a new party, promising financial backing. He also claimed that a neighbour of Union Minister Pralhad Joshi in Bengaluru had approached him with a promise to contribute Rs 11 lakh to the new party.
Asserting his disillusionment with the state BJP, Yatnal accused former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa's family of orchestrating a conspiracy to sideline pro-Hindu leaders within the party. He expressed widespread public demand for a "Hindu party" in Karnataka. “If public opinion calls for it, then by Vijayadashami this year we will announce a new party,” he said.
Yatnal's statements followed his third expulsion (in 15 years) from the BJP, initiated due to his repeated public criticisms of party leadership despite warnings from the BJP Central Disciplinary Committee. He was expelled in 2010 and 2015 but rejoined after three years each time. However, this time, he has been expelled for six years.
