Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially inaugurate the Bengaluru Namma Metro Yellow Line on Sunday, August 10. The 19.15 km metro stretch–linking RV Road to Bommasandra via Silk Board Junction and Electronics City– is expected to significantly help commuters travelling to and from Bengaluru South.

During his visit, PM Modi will reportedly also lay the foundation stone for the Namma Metro Phase 3.

The Yellow Line, built at a cost of Rs 5,057 crore, has 16 stations, including RV Road, Ragi Gudda, Jayadeva Hospital, BTM Layout, Central Silk Board, Bommana Halli, Hongra Sandra, Kudlu Gate, Singa Sandra, Hosa Road, Beratena Agrahara, Electronic City, Infosys Foundation Konappana Agrahara, Huskur Road, Hebba Godi, and Bommasandra.

According to authorities, metro trains will operate from 5 am to 11 pm daily and initially, three driverless train sets will be running at 25-minute intervals. Fares will start at Rs 10 and go up to a maximum of Rs 90.

Though the construction of the Yellow Line was completed in late 2023, it faced delays in launch due to train shortage and obstacles in regulatory approvals.

Along with the inauguration of Yellow Line, the PM will also flag off three Vande Bharat trains – KSR Bengaluru-Belagavi, Amritsar-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katri, and Ajni (Nagpur)-Pune.

According to the itinerary, the PM will land at the HAL Airport at 10.30 am and visit the KSR Bengaluru railway station to flag off the Vande Bharat trains. Followed by this, he will travel by road to the Ragigudda metro station. It is expected that between 11.45 am - 12.50 pm, he will travel by the metro from Ragigudda to Electronics City.

Meanwhile, in view of PM Modi‘s visit, several traffic restrictions have been announced in the city.

Traffic will remain blocked on the Marenahalli main road (from Rajalakshmi Junction to Marenahalli 18th Main Road) and Marenahalli East End Main Road Junction to Aravind Junction from 8.30 am until afternoon.

Between 9.30 am and 2.30 pm, traffic will be blocked on Silk Board road towards Hosur via the Electronic City elevated expressway and Hosur Road. Traffic will also be blocked from Hosur towards Bengaluru.

Roads in Electronics City Phase 1 including the Infosys Avenue, Velankanni Road and HP Avenue Road will also be blocked.
