Scamster Aishwarya Gowda, who allegedly poses as the sister of Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to defraud unsuspecting individuals, has been accused of cheating yet another person. Dr Manjula Patil, a Bengaluru-based gynaecologist has alleged that Gowda swindled Rs 2.5 crore and 2.3 kg of gold over three years by luring her into fake investment opportunities – a third complaint in less than 20 days.
In her complaint to the RR Nagar police on Sunday, Dr Patil said that Gowda initially visited her hospital as a patient and introduced herself as the sister of DK Shivakumar. Presenting herself as a businesswoman with expertise in investments, Gowda gained the doctor’s trust by borrowing and repaying a loan.
Gowda allegedly proposed lucrative investments in the gold trade, casinos, and other ventures, promising high returns. Dr Patil said that she handed over the money and gold between March 2020 and December 2024, only to realise later that she had been deceived.
Dr Patil said she became aware of Gowda’s arrest in a previous cheating case through the media. After Gowda was released on bail on January 1, she reportedly sent her driver to Dr Patil with threats over the phone, warning her against filing a police complaint or making a statement. The doctor also alleged that Gowda’s husband, Harish KN, along with their drivers, Ashwath and Dhananjaya, verbally abused and intimidated her.
Based on the complaint, police have registered a case against Aishwarya Gowda and her husband Harish under sections related to cheating, criminal breach of trust, criminal conspiracy, and intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace.
This latest accusation adds to a growing list of allegations against Gowda and her husband. In a separate case, the couple is accused of defrauding Vanitha S. Aithal, the owner of Vaarahi World of Gold, of over 14 kg of gold worth Rs 8 crore. In yet another instance, they allegedly swindled a businessman out of Rs 5 crore.
