Heavy rainfall in Bengaluru affected daily life on Monday, February 2 as traffic snarls were reported in the city. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the intense spells of rains to continue in Bengaluru and parts of interior Karnataka till December 3 in the aftermath of Cyclone Fengal making landfall near Puducherry.

A massive traffic jam was witnessed in the airport road flyover near Sahakar Nagar, where visuals showed several cars lined up in a queue. Commuters travelling on Mysuru road, Tumakuru road, NICE road and other stretches also faced difficulties due to traffic snarls. Bengaluru City traffic police have issued an advisory urging the public to drive carefully due to the slow-moving traffic in several areas.

Overnight rains also caused water stagnation at several areas such as Panathur underbridge, Outer Ring Road (ORR), Bannerghatta road, Kanakapura road, and Doddanekundi village road.

A report from Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) said a total of three trees were uprooted in Jayanagara 4th block, Malleshwaram and one near the office of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Gandhi Nagar. Speaking to The Hindu, a BBMP official said flood mitigation teams have been kept on standby across the city.

An orange warning has been issued in Bengaluru and nearby districts for the next 24 hours. According to the IMD's warning system, a red warning denotes rainfall exceeding 20 cm in 24 hours, an orange warning indicates 11-20 cm of rainfall, and a yellow warning signals heavy rainfall ranging from 6-11 cm.
