A city-based doctor and a private firm employee were recently booked by the airport police following separate incidents of misbehaviour aboard flights at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on June 17.

In the first case, Vyas Hiral Mohanbai, a 36-year-old doctor from Yelahanka, was booked for causing a disturbance aboard an Air India flight bound for Surat. According to the FIR, after boarding the flight, Mohanbai left her bag in the front row and instructed the cabin crew to carry it to her designated seat at 20F. When the crew asked her to retrieve the bag herself, she reportedly became aggressive.

Police said the doctor shouted at the crew and said, “I will crash the plane,” alarming both passengers and staff on board. The cabin crew immediately alerted the pilot, who decided to offload her from the flight after she refused to comply with instructions.

In a separate incident on the same day, Sadaad Mohammad Baba, a 22-year-old from Srinagar, allegedly tried to force his way through departure gate 8 at Terminal 1. When CISF personnel attempted to stop him, he reportedly shoved them and caused a disruption.

Dr Mohanbai has been booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 351(4) (criminal intimidation) and 353(1)(b) (statements of public mischief), in addition to relevant provisions of the Suppression of Unlawful Acts Against Safety of Civil Aviation Act.

Baba has been charged under BNS sections 132 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of duty), 221 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), and 329 (criminal trespass and house trespass).
