Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has introduced special arrangements for Republic Day, January 26, including an earlier start and additional train services to accommodate the expected increase in commuters.

Metro services will begin at 6 am on January 26 from all four terminal stations and Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station, Majestic, advancing the usual start time by an hour.

To cater to the surge in travel, BMRCL will operate 20 extra train trips each on the Green and Purple Lines. This is aimed at facilitating attendees of the Lalbagh Flower Show and a special event at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Madavara. Commuters can travel to Lalbagh Metro Station and back using tokens, contactless smart cards (CSC), the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), and QR tickets.

To ease passenger movement at Lalbagh Metro Station, BMRCL will issue flat Rs 30 paper tickets between 10 am and 8 pm on Republic Day. These tickets will allow travel from Lalbagh Metro Station to any other metro station on the day of purchase. A BMRCL release said that tokens will not be issued at Lalbagh Metro Station during this period.
