Watch: Venkatesh and Naga Chaitanya play uncle-nephew in ‘Venky Mama’

On the occasion of Dasara, the first glimpse of Venky Mama starring Venkatesh, Naga Chaitanya, Raashi Khanna and Payal Rajput was released. The teaser opens with an extreme long shot of Venkatesh and Naga Chaitanya riding a bike in a village in the midst of rich green fields. The teaser shows the warm uncle-nephew relationship between the characters played by Venkatesh and Naga Chaitanya. In real life, too, Naga Chaitanya is Venkatesh's nephew.

However, this is the first time that Venkatesh and Naga Chaitanya have teamed up for a film together. The film’s tagline is ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’.

The teaser then cuts to an action sequence with Venkatesh and Naga Chaitanya. Bashing up a few goons, Venkatesh says, “I taught him to swim in Godavari; play in the field; and now I will teach him to hunt in the Jathara.”  Presumably, Venkatesh plays a farmer from the Godavari region while Naga Chaitanya is a soldier.

The teaser does not show the roles played by the female leads - Raashi Khanna and Payal Rajput - but suggests that the film is a family-action entertainer.

According to reports, Venkatesh will be paired with Payal Rajput while Naga Chaitanya will be paired with Raashi Khanna.

Speaking about working with his maternal uncle, Naga Chaitanya in an interview to The New Indian Express said, “It was fun to work with mama (Venkatesh) and he is really cool on sets. As an actor, it’s difficult to match up to his potential, especially after delivering a blockbuster with F2. I’m still trying to hold my own in that film.”

Venkatesh was last seen in F2-Fun and Frustration, a multi-starrer with Varun Tej, Tamannaah Bhatia and Mehreen Pirzada.  Venky Mama is being directed KS Ravindra (Bobby) and has music by Thaman. The cinematographer is Prasad Murella. The film is produced by Suresh Babu productions.
