Debut director Vivian Radhakrishnan’s Malayalam movie Veembu has been lying in the cans for a couple of years owing to issues with the censor board. Finally, there seems to be some respite for the filmmaker as it is getting ready for release on YouTube. Reports are that Veembu will be released on the YouTube channel In the Mood for Love.
Joju George released the poster of Veembu online and it is now getting ready for release. Sources in the know say that director Bilahari K Raj of Allu Ramendran fame brought forth the idea to release Veembu on YouTube and Vivian Radhakrishnan felt that would be the right thing to do in the current scenario.
According to the director, who refers to Veembu as ‘grandmother violence thriller’, the film will revolve around an elderly woman. The film will deal with the fake news issue due to which several people’s lives went haywire. It may be noted that Vivian Radhakrishnan had assisted Lijo Jose Pellisery in Jallikattu and he had recently released a behind-the-scenes video of the film in documentary form earning him accolades.
Veembu stars Sujeesh, Rajalakshmi, Shanavas Sharaf and Rajeev Kumar. The film is bankrolled by Rajesh Mohan M and its technical crew includes Jishnu Dev for music, Vishnu Vijayarajan for cinematography, and Maj Ramesh and Akshay Shanker for art direction. Veembu’s director Vivian Radhakrishnan has handled its editing as well.
It may be noted that the director had released a promo video several months ago which showed an elderly woman falling into a well. This created ripples in Kerala as many viewers assumed it was filmed real-time. However, when it was revealed that the video was part of Veembu’s promos, expectations on the film went up.
