
Veteran Tamil actor Rajesh passed away on Thursday, May 29. According to reports, he died due to a heart attack at his Chennai residence.

His first lead role was in Kannipparuvathile (1979). Rajesh has acted in over 150 films in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu, according to The Hindu. He has acted in films alongside Kollywood stars including Kamal Hassan, Rajnikanth, Ajith Kumar and others.
In 2022, he was appointed the Chairperson of the Tamil Nadu Government MGR Film and Television Institute.
Chief Minister MK Stalin and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin visited Rajesh’s home to pay their respects.
Condolences poured in for the actor from eminent industry personalities.
In a statement, Rajinikanth said, “The news of my friend actor Rajesh’s death is shocking. He was a wonderful human being. I hope his soul finds peace.” He also offered his condolences to the actor’s family and friends.
Describing Rajesh as a “well-read artist” who “thought deeply about what he read”, actor and MAIAM chief Kamal Hassan said, “He lived life to the end with enthusiasm and actions. His death is deeply saddening.
Speaking to media persons, actor, director and producer R Parthiban recalled how Rajesh lived a deeply health-conscious life. “We always spoke jokingly about many things. He had told me once that he wants to direct a film starring Kamal Hassan.
Actor MS Bhaskar told reporters that Rajesh “Always called actors and praised them after watching their films. He was intelligent and had the ability to speak about any topic.”
Comedian Vaiyapuri, also speaking to reporters, described the late actor as well-read across the topics of cinema, poetry and literature.
Rajesh is survived by his daughter Divya and son Deepak. His wife Joan Sylvia Vanathirayar passed away in 2012, also from a heart attack according to reports.
