Tini Tom has landed the title role in his upcoming film Kaaliyan. According to reports, the actor will be playing a rustic villager named Raghavan Ashan in the movie, replete with a beedi in his hands and clad in a lungi. It is a powerful role with ample scope for the actor to show his acting skills, say sources.

Directed by debutant Jijo Pankod, Kaaliyan is set in a fictional village Pushpagiri. The film is touted to be based on some real-life incidents woven with fiction. The star cast of Kaaliyan also includes Shivaji Guruvayoor Kulappulli Leela, Nithin George, Grace Antony and Balachandran Chullikad.

Scripted by Shaji Chelachuvadu, the camera for Kaaliyan has been cranked by Premji. Music for the film is composed by Vinod and Jithesh. Produced by Bobina C Jose, Kaaliyan is expected to hit the screens soon.

Tini Tom, an accomplished mimicry artiste and TV host, was seen in small character roles in movies until he made his debut as a lead star in Housefull in 2013. His career began in 1995 with Mimics Action 500 in which he played the role of a stage mimic presenter. He has shared the screen space with stars such as Mammootty, Mohanlal, Prithviraj, Indrajith, Suresh Gopi and Kalabhavan Mani.

Tini Tom’s last outing was Daffadar that hit the silver screens last year. Malavika Nair had played his lead pair in the film. It may be mentioned that maestro Ilaiyaraja had composed music for this film and it was launched by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Tini Tom has received various awards in his long career. He was awarded the Asianet Film Award for Best Supporting actor for the film Vellimoonga in 2014.
