After Thaana Serntha Kootam, Suriya will next be seen playing a leader in Selvaraghavan’s NGK with its abbreviation rumoured to be 'Nanda Gopalan Kumaran'. For the last couple of months, the film was confirmed as a Deepavali release and was set to lock horns with Vijay’s Sarkar at the box-office.
But now, the makers have made it official that the film will not be hitting the screens for Deepavali as per the original plan. In a press statement, the makers said: "We are working hard to achieve the best and deliver the same to you at the earliest. This may take a little longer than expected...than projected, so we will be bring it to you post Diwali. We will soon release the updated release plan. We seriously thank each and every one of you for the continued love and support.”
Nearly 70 percent of the shoot was over. However, there was a delay in shooting the rest, as Selvaraghavan was unwell and had undergone an appendix surgery. Since he needs rest, the schedules have taken a back seat.
The film was officially launched in February 2018. Touted to be a socio-political drama, the film stars Rakul Preet Singh and Sai Pallavi as the female leads. The film also stars Jagapathi Babu, Ilavarasu and Ramkumar Ganesan in supporting roles. With Yuvan Shankar Raja composing the music, the production is by Dream Warrior Pictures.
The team has already wrapped up the first schedule of shooting. Despite rumours doing the rounds that the film could be a version of Selvaraghavan’s Kaan, which was launched in 2016 and dropped, sources close to the makers have rubbished the reports and clarified that the team is working on a fresh subject.
Meanwhile, Suriya, upon wrapping his untitled project with KV Anand will join hands with Irudhi Suttru director Sudha Kongara in 2019. G.V Prakash Kumar has been signed to compose music for this project.
