Malayalam actor and politician Suresh Gopi took a long sabbatical from the film industry for various reasons and he is now back to acting, signing up new films. The veteran actor has inked the deal to star in the Tamil film Tamilarasan. He revealed about this by posting a photo with the film team on social media recently. We hear that Suresh Gopi plays a doctor in Tamilarasan and it will be a very crucial role in the film.

Interestingly, it is a cop thriller that has Vijay Anthony playing the lead role. He will be seen as a police officer in the film. Helming Tamilarasan is director Babu Yogeswaran, known for making films such as the Jayam Ravi starrer Daas.

Tamilarasan has Remya Nambeesan playing the female lead and the cast also includes Sonu Sood, Bhumika, Munishkanth, Robo Shankar, Yogi Babu, and Pranav Mohan Raja.

The technical crew of this film includes the music maestro Ilayaraja, composing the tunes and RD Rajasekhar handling the cinematography. Bhuvan Srinivasan is in charge of the editing of the film.

Besides Tamilarasan, Suresh Gopi has recently signed a Malayalam film. It will be a sequel to the popular 1997 movie Lelam, and it will have him reprise the role of Anakkattil 'Chackochi' Jacob Stephen.

Lelam 2 will have Suresh Gopi and his son Gokul Suresh teaming up. The film is directed by Nithin Renji Panicker, who has earlier directed the controversial Kasaba. It is written by his dad and actor-scriptwriter Renji Panicker. The prequel – Lelam – too had been written by Renji Panicker, and dealt with two families involved in the liquour business fighting with each other. It was the last film that late actor MG Soman had acted in before his death in the same year. He played the powerful dad of Chackochi.
