On the birth anniversary of the late actor and politician, Ambareesh, on Thursday, his wife and newly elected Member of Parliament from the Mandya constituency Sumalatha organised Ambi (as Ambareesh was affectionately called) Jayantotsav. Interestingly, Sumalatha is the lone independent MP from Karnataka. Film stars Yash and Darshan, producer Rockline Venkatesh and other prominent film personalities from Sandalwood were expected to take part in the celebrations. The event was expected to begin at 2 pm on Thursday in Mandya. Sumalatha and Ambareesh’s son Abhishek also was to take part in the event.
Last Friday, after the election results were declared and she emerged victorious, Sumalatha paid tribute to Ambareesh at his memorial in Bengaluru. Abhishek was also seen alongside a visibly emotional Sumalatha paying his respects.
Meanwhile, Abhishek is awaiting the release of Amar, his debut film, on Friday. Directed by Nagashekar, Amar is being bankrolled under the banner Sandesh Productions. Amar’s technical crew comprises Arjun Janya for composing music, Satya Hegde to crank the camera and Saniya Sardhariya to design the costumes. The film has Tanya Hope playing the lead opposite Abhishek. A major portion of the film has been shot in Switzerland, we hear.
Darshan is playing a guest role in Amar. While speculations were rife on what role the Challenging Star will be playing in the film, its director had recently revealed that he will be seen as a millionaire. It is heard through sources that Darshan’s character in Amar will be crucial and will bring about the turning point of the story. Scenes involving him were shot for a period of three days in various locations in and around Bengaluru, we hear. Darshan will be seen shaking a leg with the hero for a Kodava song in the film. The song, titled Joruu Paattu, has been sung by Jassie Gift while the lyrics have been penned by Kiran Kaverappa, and the music is by Arjun Janya. Amar was wrapped up a while ago and has been given a UA certification.
