Sivakarthikeyan, who is basking in the great response for his latest release Namma Veettu Pillai, has signed up for a science-fiction film next. The movie, which might be titled ‘Vingyani’, meaning ‘Scientist’ will be directed by Ravi Kumar.
Tipped to be an alien invasion comedy, this will be Ravi Kumar’s next sci-fi movie after Indru Netru Naalai. The film Vingyani went on floors last year and the schedules have taken a back seat due to some financial troubles.
Starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, the movie will have Rakul Preet Singh, playing the female lead. Her role is touted to be that of an astronomer -- one who studies stars and planets. The makers are planning to resume the film’s shooting from January.
Recently, there were rumours that Sivakarthikeyan had taken over the reins of the project. However, he recently clarified in a media interaction that he didn’t take over the project but has agreed to shoot without remuneration as the film has been on the floors for a long time. The film also has Bhanupriya, Yogi Babu and Bollywood actress Isha Koppikar in a pivotal role. AR Rahman will be composing music for the movie.
Meanwhile Sivakarthikeyan is awaiting the release of 'Hero', his next film, directed by PS Mithran. PS Mithran made a big splash in 2018 with Vishal’s Irumbu Thirai. The film will hit the screens on December 20. Bankrolled by KJR Studios, Kalyani Priyadarshan has been signed to play the leading lady while actor Arjun has been roped in to play the antagonist. George C Williams and Ruben are in charge of the film’s cinematography and editing respectively.
Sivakarthikeyan also has a film with Vignesh Shivn in the pipeline, marking the maiden collaboration Vignesh Shivn. Vignesh Shivn’s latest project was the Suriya starrer Thaana Serntha Kootam (TSK). Currently dubbed as SK17, it was recently reported that Rashmika Mandanna is in talks for the project which will feature two heroines. He also has a film with director Nelson Dhilipkumar of Kolamavu Kokila fame in the offing which will be bankrolled by KJR Studios in association with Sivakarthikeyan's home banner.
