In Simbu’s career in recent times, 2018 was a special year as he returned to form with Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam (CCV) after struggling to make an impact with his films for a while. While he was shooting for CCV, he signed the Tamil remake of Telugu blockbuster Attarintiki Daredi with Sundar C and a political thriller Manaadu with Venkat Prabhu.

It’s been nearly six months since it was first announced that Prabhu and Simbu will join hands for a project and since then, there’s been no major development. Rumours made the rounds that Manaadu will go on the floors from October 2018; but for reasons unknown, the project never went on the floors.

According to the industry grapevine, Manaadu will finally go to sets on February 3 on the occasion of Simbu’s birthday. Apparently, Simbu will get formal training in martial arts for his role in the film, which will be produced by Suresh Kamatchi. The rest of the cast and crew will be finalised shortly. It’s worth mentioning that Prabhu had planned to work with Simbu for a long time. However, things never fell in place as both of them were caught up with their commitments.

Meanwhile, Simbu has almost completed work on Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven, the Tamil remake of Attarintiki Daredi. The film, directed by Sundar C, also stars Megha Akash and Catherine Tresa as the leading ladies. With a song left to be shot, the project was originally slated for Pongal 2019 release. It is now being rumoured that it will be released in the first week of February. Released in 2013, Attarintiki Daredi is the last known blockbuster in Pawan Kalyan’s career. The story follows a grandson, played by Kalyan, who promises to his grandfather to help him reconcile his relationship with his estranged daughter.
