Star kid Shivatmika, daughter of Rajasekar and Jeevitha, and Anand Deverakonda, brother of Vijay Deverakonda, are pairing up for their debut film titled Dorasani. Shivatmika plays the titular role in this film which is about the daughter of a landlord, known as Dora in Telugu.

On this film, debutant director KVR Mahendra said, “A young dorasani named Devaki, who’s the daughter of a dora (landlord), lives in a suppressed world that she yearns to break free from. Her life changes, for better or worse, when she dares to fall in love with a commoner named Raju, son of a labourer. Unfortunately for them, the world they live in is not yet ready to accept their love.”

Dorasani is a romantic tale set in the 1980s. On choosing Shivatmika for the role, the director told in an interview to the Times of India, “It took me three years and eight months to research on the topic and I wrote 42 versions of the script before being satisfied with the one I have now. But, while writing the tale, it was always Shivatmika I wanted to cast in the role because she exudes the kind of grace required to pull it off.”

Dorasani is being bankrolled by Madhura Sreedhar Reddy and Yash Rangineni. The technical crew of this flick includes Prashanth Vihari for music and Navin Nooli for editing. The story of Dorasani will be completely in the Telangana dialect and there is a reason for it, said the director, “I believe this is a story that needs to be told because it has a kind of honesty and purity that’s unmatched. When I was a child, growing up in Jayagiri, Warangal, I would notice stories like these unfold around me so often. But I was too young to understand what was going on.

Director KVR Mahendra has earlier directed a short film called Nisheedhi.
