The satellite rights of Venkatesh’s upcoming film, Guru have been lapped up by Gemini TV for a whopping Rs 6.50 crore.
The film is said to be in the final stages of production and its music launch is scheduled to happen later next month.
On the release plans, we hear that the filmmakers are keen on a summer release and will be finalising the date very soon. In all probability, it will be out at the theatres sometime in April this year.
Directed by Sudha Kongara, the film is the remake of Saala Khadoos / Irudhi Suttru.
Incidentally, she had directed both the Hindi as well as the Tamil versions.
While Madhavan had played the lead role in both the Tamil and Hindi versions, it will be Venkatesh reprising his role in the sports drama.
Rithika Singh who was seen in both the films, is playing the same role in Guru. The story is all about an acclaimed boxer training a fisher-woman into a boxing champion and their pursuit towards this goal.
The film is bankrolled by S Sashikanth of Y Not Studios. Santosh Narayanan has composed music for Guru and KA Shakthivel has cranked the camera.
