It was announced several months ago that Rana Daggubati will be featuring in a high budget movie titled Hiranyakashyapa. This project required extensive pre-production and according to its director Guna Sekar, it took the team nearly three years to complete it. The film will be made on a budget of Rs 150 crore.
Touted to be a historical fiction, the film will be produced by Rana’s father and well-known producer D Suresh Babu under the banner Suresh Productions. According to reports from the tinsel town, the filmmakers have earmarked a big budget for this film as it would require extravagant sets.
On the film, the film’s producer Suresh Babu had said much earlier, “One of the top artists in India, Mukesh Singh, is drawing mythological places like Vaikuntam and Indralokam as well as Narasimha avatar… It’s not easy to do this film, because everyone knows the subject and there is already an old classic Bhakta Prahlada. So we have to imagine bigger visuals for this film. We are looking for options to start the shoot as we need to erect big sets for the film.”
Sharing details about the film, director Guna Sekar tweeted, “Would like to share that I’m working on a mythological film ‘Hiranyakashyapa’ starring Rana Daggubati in the titular role. Extensive preproduction work is being done for the past three years for this one.. that’s right 3YEARS! That’s how invigorating this has been. More details and updates to follow soon.”
Besides this historical, Rana also has another in his kitty in Mollywood. The star has inked the deal to play a role in the Malayalam historical Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma: The King of Travancore. His other films in the pipe line are the Tamil / Telugu bilingual Madai Thiranthu / 1945, Enai Nokki Payum Thotta and the Telugu / Hindi bilingual Haathi Mere Saathi.
